Our Mission Is What Sets Us Apart!

The Michigan County Medical Care Facilities (MCFs) are skilled nursing facilities throughout Michigan. The Michigan County Medical Care Facilities Council was formed over 55 years ago to support, educate, and advocate for those facilities. The majority of this site will be devoted to the facilities themselves, either individually or collectively, and to provide information that may assist you in becoming informed on the subject of county-owned medical/skilled nursing facility care, how it is provided and regulated, and some of the current issues in the field.

About MCMCFC

The Michigan County Medical Care Facilities Council assists with improving care, developing effective and economical operations, fostering relationships and promoting communication.

Welcome to the Michigan County Medical Care Facilities Council (MCMCFC)

This website provides information about two entities that strive to make the highest quality skilled nursing facility care available to citizens of the state of Michigan. The goal of each county-owned facility is to keep the resident at the center of all care provided. We will seek to achieve the highest level of person and family-centered care by applying the best clinical evidence. Safety, quality, building trusting relationships, and meeting the needs of the person being cared for in comfortable surroundings are what we are all about.

The goal of the MCMCFC is to support the facility in carrying out its mission through education and advocacy.

Medical Care Facilities Michigan

We support, educate and advocate on behalf of Michigan County Medical Care Facilities.

MCMCFC FacilitiesThe Facilities

There are 34 Medical Care Facilities in Michigan. Medical Care Facilities serve citizens in all of Michigan's 83 counties. MCFs are the safety net providers for Michigan's most vulnerable citizens who need skilled nursing care regardless of their ability to pay. Michigan County Medical Care Facilities are county-owned and operated nursing homes. As such, many receive support from local millage and bond funding.

Michigan County Medical Care Facilities offer various services depending on the facility. In addition to long-term skilled nursing care, many Michigan County Medical Care Facilities provide a range of programs and services, including adult day and overnight respite care, rehabilitation services, hospice, Alzheimer's and related dementia care, rehabilitative therapy services, independent and assisted living. A small number of facilities also provide in-house dialysis. Check with each independent county-owned facility for their specific services.

The Council

The Council represents these publicly owned and financed facilities to policymakers within Michigan and at the federal level. The Council also provides education through conferences and other meetings to permit Michigan County Medical Care Facility administrators and staff to remain current on issues of importance.

The MCMCFC has no ownership role, nor does it engage in the operation, supervision, or management of any of its members. As such, it waives any and all liabilities connected with the operation of its member facilities, which are solely responsible for resident care and services provided by them.
